In a point in time where uncertainty seems to have a brick on the pedal, one thing’s for sure. Efdemin’s projects are special. Throughout the past two decades, Phillip Sollmann’s DJ’ing, composing and producing have struck a special chord with us on dance floors and recordings alike. Whether taking the form of emotionally charged LPs, special remix projects or marathon techno sets with transitional potency, he consistently puts you in this flickering realm between the infinitely small and the infinitely large. As above, so below.

This strong sensation is most present in the psychological state that inspired this opening concert. Presenting the mysterious ‘Hypnagogia’ in a live setting, Efdemin draws from a long tradition in the arts that harnesses the elusive phase between sleep and wakefulness. That moment right before you fully drift off, where all logic centres shake and crumble. Through careful builds, a surrealist approach to sound art and grand ambience, this peculiar feeling that every human recognises, is translated into frequencies. Further enhanced by Georgi Zatiashvili’s visual deconstruction of the ‘normalcy’ of everyday life through a carefully curated scenography.
