At Draaimolen, joining us means becoming part of our family – a family dedicated to turning dreams into reality. We can’t do it on our own, that’s why we invite you to volunteer at Draaimolen Festival 2024. As a volunteer, you’ll see first-hand how every aspect of the festival is created with passion and love. From stage designs and commissioned art projects to site-specific performances, every detail is meticulously planned, with our team working tirelessly around the clock, supported by friends and family when we need them most!

If you are interested in volunteering, please consult our Staff Application Agreement prior to filling in the form below.

House rules

The festival house rules apply to our work on site. Please read through them carefully before continuing. https://www.draaimolen.nu/about/house-rules/

Positions

Draaimolen is looking for helping hands throughout the entire festival span, ranging from shifts during the festival to construction and deconstruction. Each option offers its own benefits; read the information below to learn more.

  1. Buildup and/or breakdown

There are two ways of assisting us with the buildup and/or breakdown of the festival; long and short term volunteering. For both options, tasks include site clearing, stage construction, tent setup, and more.

Keep in mind that the build-up and breakdown period can be quite intense. The workdays start at 8 AM and end around 8 PM, with possible extension if certain tasks need to be urgently completed. We want to ensure that you are aligned with our work ethic and expectations, as we rely on our team to deliver the final product.

Long term

Buildup: August 19th — September 5th (start at 8AM on site)

Breakdown: September 8th — September 18th (start at 8 AM on site)

Benefits:

  • Weekend ticket
  • Accommodation if needed
  • In between all the hard work, we’ll provide delicious meals in good company
  • Becoming a part of the Draaimolen family <3

Short term

Select 2 to 10 days between August 19th — September 18th

Preferably consecutive days

Benefits:

  • 2 days = day ticket
  • 4 days = weekend ticket
Apply for 3 days in buildup and one day in breakdown when choosing this option.

Additional days won’t secure extra tickets, but you’ll have more engagement and fun!

  • food
  • Becoming part of the Draaimolen community <3

  1. Festival shifts (voluntarily and paid)

There are multiple ways to assist us during the festival. Starting on Friday September 6th until Sunday September 8th. Tasks include barshifts, ticketing, regulating traffic and more.

Shifts start between 11 AM and 4 PM and end no later than 2 AM, meaning you will work for a minimum of 10 hours, maximum of 15 hours.

According to your shift hours and times, lunch and/or dinner will be provided.
If you start working from 11.00 you’ll receive lunch.
If you work later than 18.00 you’ll receive dinner.

Selection

Please keep in mind that we work with an application form, which means applying does not guarantee you a shift or volunteering placement. We receive numerous applications and requests to work with us during the festival period, but unfortunately, we cannot accommodate everyone. Additionally, we aim to ensure that individuals we collaborate with share our philosophy and work ethic.

Once our team has been through all the submissions, we will get in touch with you through email if you fit our criteria. This can take up to 6 weeks, so don’t panic if you don’t hear from us right away!

Volunteer responsibilities

Be professional: Draaimolen is a festival rooted in community. When committing to a shift or our volunteering program, we anticipate your presence and dedication. Please ensure you arrive on time, stay sober, are fit to work and actively participate in your assigned tasks. We need you!

Safety: Construction sites and festivals can be tricky places. We prioritize safety and mutual respect. This means adhering to our safety protocols, as well as being attentive to social cues and respecting the boundaries of your fellow volunteers and staff. We strive to create safe and inclusive spaces for all.

Transport: We expect everyone to find their way to the festival site. Find your way to Tilburg Central Station (https://www.ns.nl/reisplanner), from there you can take a bus and walk or an OV-bicycle. If you come by car during the buildup or breakdown, please let us know so we can give you important parking instructions. Don’t drink & drive!

Cancellations: In case of unplanned events, a cancellation can be due. Please let us know at least 3 weeks in advance for long-term volunteers and 48 hours in advance for short-term by sending an email to volunteer@draaimolen.nu.

Volunteer benefits

Tickets & compensation: Tickets and compensation depend on the type of volunteering you sign up for. Check your rewards in the text above!

Food: During buildup and breakdown, the Draaimolen catering crew will provide two communal meals daily, fostering our strong community spirit. If you sign up for a shift during the festival, you will receive a meal if you work during lunch or dinnertime.

Experience: We offer you a peek of the behind the scenes of Draaimolen Festival. The best way to tweak your knowledge about event production is on site!

Enjoyment: Come experience the joy of building a dream project together. At Draaimolen, we believe our community is the core driving force behind our festival. Connect over shared values and interests, meet new people from all over the world, and create unforgettable memories.

Insurance: To work with us on site, you’ll need to have medical insurance. We also recommend that you have personal liability insurance.
