Groove sorcerer Moodymann is the undisputed king of soulful house. With his production journey beginning in the early 90s, his use of reworked samples from soul, jazz, and gospel has earned him cult status. His music is the legacy of Black Detroit on wax, an ode to the city as a hotbed of cultural and political resistance.
DJ Stingray 313 learned the art of DJing from Moodymann, before becoming a core member of the iconic electro outfit Drexciya. His uncompromising, high-octane music captures the raw, industrial aesthetics of Detroit while opening a window into a not-too-distant, dystopian future.
This meeting of master and protegee celebrates the rich heritage of house and techno in The Motor City. Wherever they take us, Moodymann’s warmth and DJ Stingray’s razor-sharp edge will transmute into something timeless. This is one is for the books.
