Smerz is a duo consisting of Henriette Motzfeldt and Catharina Stoltenberg, who are based in Oslo and Copenhagen. Renowned for their boundary-pushing output, Smerz has created a unique sonic landscape drawing from classical music, pop, experimental electronics, and personal storytelling.
Their live shows navigate themes of friendship, loneliness and the strange poetry of everyday life. Using layered vocals, distorted samples and unexpected shifts in texture, they craft soundscapes that are both intricate and emotionally charged.
They recently released their album Big City Life on the Danish label Escho. We are excited to host one of their first performances following the album’s release as part of our opening concert.
