With this b2b, we’re going back to the raw energy at the heart of techno’s roots.
When our main programmer asked himself which sound had shaped his taste most significantly in the early years, one name instantly came to mind. Heiko Laux. Founder of the Frankfurt based label Kanzleramt in 1994, Laux is a true veteran of the German scene. His sound captures the rough and ready textures of techno’s early years, gliding between deep, dubby territory, to minimal grooves with microscopic sensibility.
Lena Willikens, hailing from Stuttgart and now based in Amsterdam, celebrates the distinctive edge of the German sound, both past and present. Incorporating elements of industrial techno, EBM, krautrock, new wave and punky curveballs, her performances are nothing short of electrifying. A DJ who thrives on the thrill of spontaneity, her aversion to recording her sets means that each mix is crafted for maximal, present impact.
This meeting of eras could go in many directions. A nod to the great influence of the German scene in Tilburg and far beyond, this won’t be one to miss.
